Hi all,

I finally found some time today and I cleaned up the NM codebase and fixed quite a few issues. Safari has an issue with flickering background sometimes (it's due to the way they render tables) and I've minimized the effect of that as well.

I've also created Submission Guidelines: http://www.newmogul.com/guidelines so please take a look and comment. We can change those easily if you find anything unacceptable or think we should do something differently.

I've also created a "FAQ" (or more appropriately, Getting Started) page as well: http://www.newmogul.com/faq

Bookmarklet page now works and you can finally add it to your bookmark bar. Grab it here: http://www.newmogul.com/bookmarklet

Also, if you would like to help with moderation, let me know! I could use some help.

If you have any other suggestions, please leave them in this thread.

What do you guys think about making geopolitics a 'first class citizen' here on NM? What I mean by 'first class citizen' is that I'd like to add it to Submission Guidelines (http://www.newmogul.com/guidelines) so that no one feels awkward by submitting anything related to geopolitics. I still think that a ban on partisan politics is in order ('left v right' paradigm) and unsuitable and just leads to fights. I really like the way The Economist handles politics, for example.

Now, geopolitics is defined as: "The study of the relationship among politics and geography, demography, and economics, especially with respect to the foreign policy of a nation." Since geopolitics heavily influences economy and geopolitics is becoming more and more important since the globalization is slowing down and some are even predicting that the World will become fragmented ("The Next Big Thing: Neomedievalism" - http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4850), adding more stories here on NM would be a good thing in my opinion and would allow average NM reader to broaden his/her views and be able to think about issues on a much deeper level.

Here's few stories that I submitted today that I think would be good examples of geopolitical stories that I'd like to see more of:

"The Next Big Thing: Why bad times lead to great ideas" - http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4842

"The Geography of Recession" - http://www.stratfor.com/weekly/20090602_geography_recession

"The Revenge of Geography" - http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4862

Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Also, let's use this thread to discuss submission guidelines as well. Let me know if you want anything changed. Most of the complaints that I've received have been about people pushing their blogs etc. I guess we can discuss that issue as well in the open.

Just wondering how you guys are impacted by all the bad news that seems to have no end. I've been trying to find a piece of positive news today and it's next to impossible to find anything uplifting. I'm all for realism and reality but sometimes a torrent of constant negative/bad/depressing news can have impact on some people.

Not sure if we could do anything to keep the hope up without sounding like Pollyannas....
